Cabinet making specialists in Northamptonshire,
Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire
During our time restoring and conserving fine antique furniture, we have been asked by many clients to design and make new items of furniture for them and indeed in some cases copy period items from their own collections. Jamie initially trained as a fine cabinet maker and with these skills has been able to offer his clients the exact services they require.
We have large stocks of old timber and veneers so replicating the colour and quality of timber used on period items is met with ease. However, where possible we will use the finest native timbers such as English Oak, English Brown Oak, Pollarded Oak, English Elm, English walnut, Ash and English Fruitwoods.
The bespoke furniture made in our workshop harks back to the late 19th Century and early 20th Century and draws directly from Arts and Crafts cabinet makers and designers. We specialise in using the finest native timbers and design furniture which is simple, functional and extremely well made. Joints are handmade using traditional methods and tools and to exemplify this we often incorporate elements of revealed construction into the design.
‘So I say our furniture should be good citizen’s furniture, solid and well made in workmanship, and in design should have nothing about it that is not easily defensible, no monstrosities or extravagances, not even of beauty, lest we weary of it...also I think that, except for movable things like chairs, it should not be so very light as to be imponderable; it should be made of timber rather than walking sticks.’ William Morris
To develop this approach further, we have decided to relocate to much larger premises and expand our staff, machining capacity and run the two facets of our business in tandem from the one building. To this aim we have been successful.

Arts and Crafts Wardrobe
Primary show wood - Swiss grade European oak
Metal work - Handmade copies of the original
Surface finish - Linseed oil
This is the second wardrobe in a batch of two that we made. We were so taken with the design and quality of the original that we decided to make an additional one. The construction and selection of timber has been improved in our copies with the doors now having book matched panels, as are the sides.
The timber used is Swiss grade European oak. Allowances for shrinkage have been incorporated into the door construction and the cornice is removable to allow easier transportation.

Our client was restoring an Arts and Crafts property in Oxfordshire and asked if we could conserve one of the original doors linking a courtyard
to the garden.
Whilst undertaking this work some alterations were made to the property and we were commissioned to make a faithful copy of the original to act as a new door into the extension of the property.
